Maria Fitzgibbon.
Maria is an accredited psychotherapist and counsellor, with almost two decades of experience working in private practice in Kildare and also providing online counselling. As a therapist, compassion, non-judgment and empathy are the foundational values of Maria’s work. Her approach is primarily humanistic and integrative, drawing upon various psychotherapeutic models, including person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), according to the individual needs of her clients.
She has extensive experience across a range of issues including bereavement & loss, self-esteem, relationship issues, self-harming behaviours, anxiety, panic attacks and depression, childhood issues and family concerns.
Maria’s area of special interest in eating disorders and related difficulties around food, diet, emotional eating and body image. Much of her work over the past number of years has been focused on this complex issue.
She is fully accredited by the National Association for Professional Counselling and Psychotherapy (NAPCP) and has been an active member of their board for many years.
Her outside interests include genealogy, drumming, walking, gardening, and avidly supporting Leinster Rugby! Her previous careers included merchant banking and working for a charitable organisation.
Following on from the initial consultation call, Maria’s fees are €75 per hourly session (online sessions are fifty minutes in duration).
