Anger Counselling
In a constant state of anger, the slightest little thing can become:
- Out of control
- Misdirected
- We can make poor decisions
- Become dangerous to our own and others safety,
- Cause relationship breakdown
- Effecting our mental and physical health
Things too bear in mind regarding anger
Anger like all emotions is normal! It is a reaction to a perceived threat to ourselves, our self-image, or some part of our identity. It can be a threat real or perceive, to our loved ones or our property. Anger is a warning bell that tells us that something is wrong. Everyone experiences anger, and it can be healthy. It can motivate us and become assertive and stand up ourselves and for injustices. Anger can help us to make positive changes in our lives and situations.
What’s happening in our bodies in anger like with anxiety our bodies are ready to protect whatever it is that we perceive needs protecting. The range of intensity of anger can go from mild irritation and frustration to aggression, to out of control rage and this in some cases can happen in the blink of an eye!
If this is whats happening to you, working with anger in therapy is highly effective! We can both help you identify triggers for our anger responses early and begin again to live a more relaxed and enjoyable life!
Anger counselling and management is slowing down our reactions by learning to identify the physical sensations and thought patterns that escalate the anger. Also by recognising the primary emotion, so that we can catch that feeling before we go into the anger response. All this is done in private, confidential one to one sessions.
Anger Out Bursts
Working with aggression and assertiveness in therapy can also be hugely beneficial to people who have difficulty asserting themselves. Therapy provides a safe space to explore and experiment with their anger in order to gain more self-confidence and greater inner authority. Again, all this is done in private, confidential one to one sessions.
